Statement on We Fight Fraud Report

Update – 19th August 2025

We would like to clarify that we tested the cashless system referred to in the We Fight Fraud report. We can confirm that the system behaviour described in the report matched what we observed.

Since then, the system in question has been changed, and the loophole appears to have now been closed. This is a positive outcome for the industry and a clear example of how identifying potential risks can lead to stronger safeguards.

We remain committed to supporting innovation that strengthens trust, security, and compliance across the gaming industry.

We are aware of a recent report by We Fight Fraud, titled Clandestine Money Transfers via OKTO Fruit Machines: An Emerging Threat in Plain Sight. The report raised serious concerns about vulnerabilities with another cashless payment system that allow funds to be transferred from a debit card into a bank account with minimal oversight — potentially enabling money laundering.

We want to reassure our customers and partners that Game Payment does not allow this.

Why Game Payment Is Different

Game Payment was built with compliance and anti-money laundering (AML) controls at its core. Our platform deliberately prevents the kind of misuse described in the report. With both the Game Payment app and Game Payment Express:

  • Funds can only be returned to the original payment card used for the deposit.
  • There is no functionality to withdraw to a bank account or to third parties.
  • Our controls were built with anti-money laundering compliance and responsible gambling in mind from the start.

These safeguards are not an afterthought — they are a fundamental part of how Game Payment operates.

Transparency and Industry Standards

We welcome efforts to shine a light on emerging risks in gambling and payment technologies. The physical infrastructure described in the report is clearly a blind spot in the regulatory landscape. We’re committed to working with operators, regulators, and partners to uphold the highest standards of transparency, safety, and accountability in this space.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
